As a result of this facility my confidence in my ability to lift heavier and push myself to greater lengths than I ever thought possible has grown.
In addition to that my body composition has changed and I feel firmer, leaner and stronger.
A big requirement for me coming in was to tone my core – which was a difficult task given I was 16 months post-partum and post C-Section.
With the guidance of the excellent trainers here I have seen a huge improvement and I no longer feel that I really have a mum tum.
Paramount for me has been the level of attention you get – even in a semi- training capacity.
You have a custom fit plan which gives you a huge level of trust and confidence that you are doing the right thing for your needs.
I think overarching all of this is the fact this gym is a lovely place to be – with great staff who believe in you and have the craic. There is absolutely nothing like this around!

I want to gain some weight, and whilst training I’m not losing any weight, but I’m losing from my belly, and getting bigger on my shoulders and chest, which is great, where I want it to go!
Even though not that long ago I dislocated my elbow and factured and dislocated my wrist, but ye were all still here for me.
I was surprised how much I could do, even with the arm the way it was.
Ye always found another way to get the workout despite it, and know that it’s all taken on board.
It’s amazing that there’s all types here in the gym, it’s not a place where there’s 10 guys flexing in the mirror, there’s everyone and anyone in here.
To see Mary training is amazing.
In the past the big thing for me was always motivation.
I’d go to a gym, I’d last 3 or 4 weeks and then I’d burn out with no-one to keep me going.
I’ve known Devlin for years, and seeing his transformation really made me want to check out the place.
And the trial was great too, being able to see what the place is like for two weeks without having to commmit to a year long membership was great.
After doing the trial I knew straight away it was what I needed, and I’ve never looked back since!

I just felt like I was losing my womanly curves, but yet I still had the belly
I didn’t have a strong core, and I felt like I was looking skinny, but had a little bit of a pot belly on me.
I still loved getting out there and running, but I felt like I needed something to keep me on the straight and narrow, and of course something to do coming in to the winter

Before I was in the regular hotel gym, and it was very solo, you go in and you don’t talk to anyone.
But here, it’s social, you talk, it’s good craic!
I’d heard of weights, and combined movements and exercises, so I was eager to give it a go, and a friend recommended Foundation to me.
The hotel gym, you’d go in there, and do your thing, and you don’t know if you’re doing the right thing.
A few days a week.
But coming here, getting weighed in, getting measurements, makes you think “Hmm, where have I gone wrong, what have I done right this week”
I guess it’s a bit of a motivation factor, being weighed in, to be good!
That’s what kept me going!

At the start I guess the diet was monitored more, but I’ve seen I’m really good during the week, but I do feel like I deserve to treat myself at the weekends, so it’s a happy medium!
And that’s why I do this during the week, so I can enjoy myself during the weekend!

It’s easy, you have a plan for every week.
I train Wednesday & Friday, and in my head, I have to do it, I’m booked in
It’s a good habit, in your head you’re sorted for the week, that’s your plan.
I try to be good, but sometimes I get home from work, and by the time I get home I’m like, oh maybe not, weather depending I’lll go for a run, and even it is nice, I might just say I don’t feel like it.
But here, you’re booked in, you have to come!
And that’s a good thing!
I’ve always exercsiesd, but this time it’s different, when you have someone telling you what to do, what weights, what exercises.
People see an improvement in me, I wouldn’t see the huge improvement myself, but I guess it’s because I see myself every day!

But I do remember one of the girls was away for a few months, when she came back from Oz she couldn’t believe the change!
I don’t see it myself hugely, but I’m keeping trim!

Not going to the gym, falling out of the routine, and in a way you kind of need to be guided, to be given a push in the right direction
Some people think it’s a bit scary, but I don’t think that’s the way here at all.

Getting in to your head that you have to be somewhere, that you’re letting someone down if you’re cancelling last minute.

I do really enjoy it.
I am happier with my shape now, yes I’d like a toned stomach, but that will come with time, and the choices I’m making!

I think I gave up on myself many years ago.

Many times, I tried to get back to the place where I could be ok with loving myself again. I went through many weight loss programs, and every time, the yo-yo effect would hit me like a boomerang.

I always felt uncomfortable at the regular gyms. People were watching me, I felt judged. It didn’t help me to change my habits. In addition, at some stage of my life I began to have problems with my joints, which excluded me from a lot of physical activities.

Fortunately, my family recommended Foundation Fitness & Therapy to me. This place is amazing. The team approaches the clients individually. Exercises are adapted to the fitness level of each participant. Small groups are another benefit. Trainers devote enough time to each person, so you can be sure that you are doing your training correctly.

Each of us is at a different level and strives for own goals. Every success (even the smallest) is appreciated, and then self-esteem increases, and you feel that it is worth to keep going.

I have started my adventure with Foundation Fitness & Therapy 3 months ago and to be honest I was not convinced that I would be able to achieve my goal.
I was very worried about my joints issue. Now I am a third of way to my goal. I can not believe what changes have occurred in my body’s shape.
And most importantly, my muscles are stronger, and my joints have almost stopped bothering me!

At the present, I can not imagine my life without this place. The time I spend here is absolutely priceless to me.

The amount of progress I’ve made in 6 months is crazy.

I’m surprised, I thought it would take a whole lot longer, I thought people who look in good shape were the kind of people that had been in great shape, always played sport, always been athletic, but it doesn’t have to be that way at all.

I’d just came back from Canada after 2 years, so I’d no kind of structure really, everything was kind of new to me, problems sleeping, had just started night shift when I’d come back from Canada, I’d just moved in to a new house, and stuff, my sleeping pattern was all over the place, and as I started here it helped me with my sleeping patterns a bit more, helped me fall asleep, you know burn that energy from working night shift you know, I get home some days and I might not sleep till five in the evening, and I would get up then at 10, so when I’d get up at 10 I’m not tired in the morning, I’ve just got this ball of energy I don’t know what to do with.
It’s just like going from work, just sitting in an office chair, to going home, trying, lying in the bed, trying to go to sleep, it just wasn’t really healthy you know.

With food, I wouldn’t be very strict now but I tried to keep it, your meat and your veg like you know, wouldn’t be a fast food or freezer food kind of guy, Monday to Friday anyways 🙂
Of course I’d have my temptations!

As for coming to the gym though, I kept putting it off, I kept having aims with like events, but this time now I’ll be in better shape, ok that’s in 6 months time, I’ll be in better shape by then, and it came to this wedding, this family wedding, and I was “I’m definitely, definitely going to be in shape by then”, and then I realised “that wedding is in 10 days!!!”
And I remember that was when I got in touch, and I always remember you said: “Look, I can’t promise you anything in 10 days, but come in and let’s get the ball rolling”, and it’s very true.
You’re just going to be looking at yourself 6 months from now, and be like “I said I was going to start 6 months ago, and still haven’t. If I’d have started when I said would I’d be at least halfway there”.

From an outsider’s point of view, you’re just thinking it’s going to take so long, to get from A to B, you know and I’m like, do I really want it that badly?
But it’s actually, it kinda all happens a lot faster than you think it would, like somedays I don’t want to be coming here at all like, but as I said before, I just find myself, if I just walk there, I just walk to the gym, and the lads will look after the rest.
You can kind of tell me what to do, and I’ll do it!
That’s exactly it, and it’s a perfect kind of place, I kind of always knew when I did start, I’d never be one of those guys that just buys a gym membership and just look it up online and stuff, I’m not that type of person, I’m kind of, I need the kick in the ass, I don’t need people screaming at me but you’re learning almost in here rather than somewhere where someone’s screaming at you, throwing dumbbells at you and saying “lift these”, you’re just kind of explaining what muscles are being worked and it’s always like every month it’s a different program, you’re not lifting the same weights, or just heavier and heavier, it’s kind of getting different exercises, it’s like, I’ve learnt a lot as well as improved, and I’m only here 6 months!.

But I remember seeing Devlin, who came here before, and him saying it was just three hours a week for one year to get to photoshoot shape.
I’d spend 3 hours a week doing much less productive stuff, it might not be bad for you but even the sitting down watching TV, I could spend 20 or 30 hours a week, and best for me here, it’s like not even any effort, because all I have to do is walk to the gym.
The rest is taken care of, not by me, but by ye like!
And it’s a perfect kind of place that way.
I’d never be one of those guys that just buys a gym membership and just look it up online and stuff, I’m not that type of person, I need a bit of a kick in the ass.

I didn’t play sports when I was in secondary school, didn’t do a thing, nothing, never went to the gym, for my whole secondary school, for those whole 6 years, and within 6 months, to a year, to maybe 2 years max it’s 100% achievable to be in just as good a shape as anyone who’s been playing sports and going to the gym their entire life.

Well what can I say about Foundation Fitness…
These lads are an incredible bunch to be involved with. (The Bearded Wonders!).

My story isn’t that different, due to major back surgery four years ago as you can imagine I was very wary of getting into strenuous activity, but as part of my recovery was advised by my surgeon to keep active and start cycling, well this grew into a passion for mountain biking, but being afraid of further injury I started going to the gum to build muscle an tone up.

Pretty soon it was a matter two hours in the gym three mornings a week doing my own thing, but my own thing wasn’t getting me any results.

The evening I called Thomas really opened my eyes to what I was missing out on. I could never push myself alone in a session the way the guys here encourage you on, and I always walked out the door feeling that I have achieved something after a workout – unlike before.

The attention to detail of all the trainers is fantastic, and the next to one on one personal training is just the push I needed to start seeing results. These guys put their heart and soul into their work and their only objective is to help each and every one of their clients achieve their own personal goals.

All the help the lads have given me is priceless and the fine tuning on tendencies prove to be the difference in making progress. I must sincerely thank all the lads there for their time and patience, and believe me their patience I have tested with Having to change scheduled training sessions due to work commitments and holidays, but somehow Thomas always seemed to pull a time slot from somewhere that was workable.

This is a gym that anyone can fit in and it’s never packed with people as everyone has a time slot so this means that you will get the full attention of your trainer at all times.

From your first visit to Fountain Fitness the guys keep a log of your progress and this is a fantastic way to get your plan on track and a good pick me up, when you feel like your bottoming out and one of the lads show you how far you have come from week to week. This is a fantastic place to get you to where you want to be and there are no better down to earth nice guys to help you get there .

I’d been training hard in the gym for the last year, but just wasn’t getting where I wanted to be.
I’d be hours there most evenings, not getting home till 8 or 9 most evenings, doing the same routine, and whilst not getting any worse, not getting any better.
I had no real sense of direction, I just thought this can’t be right with all the time I’m spending in the gym.

Just after talking to ye the first day, I knew this is it, this is exactly what I need.

I started, and I could see the first few weeks that some of the things I had been doing in the gym I had been doing completely wrong, where I might have been doing twice the reps in the gym before and found doing them here with the right technique the difference was unbeliveable.
Before with the food, I wasn’t eating much rubbish food really, but again I was at the weekends “I’ve had a good week, I deserve this”, and was wondering why I hadn’t been getting where I wanted to.

In the first two months the weight was constant, but the difference in my body was unreal.
Even again in the last month my weight has dropped down dramatically.
It’s worked, I’ve seen more progress in here in 2 to 3 months than I did in a year in the gym by myself.
I found myself way more disciplined here.
It keeps me thinking all the time, and I’m always aware that if I have something extra, I cut back the next day to help.
I find I’ve much more control over my weekends, that direction was something I was completely lacking.
I’m not hungry, and I’m not eating anything massively different, I still have my Kinder Buenos, Kit Kats, popcorn, I still have ice cream from time to time, but I stage them out, and I’m not missing them because I’m still having them, which is brilliant.
Before if I was eating out, I’d never think, wheras now I’ll think I’ll have this, and how it will fit in to my routine, and I have my goal in my mind which keeps me on track.
I always enjoy doing a bit more in the training, but I love that ye always try to make me keep a little in the tank, and that I’m not crawling out the door shattered.
Every day I come in I’m fine and I’m looking forward to coming back, it’s not about coming in here to be tortured!

Every day it’s a little different, learning new exercises, and there’s so many exercises I never knew how to do, or that they even existed!
Other things I remember from the old gym, there were all these groups of people, all completely seperate, whereas in here it’s completely different, everyone’s in here together, and it feels like family.
It just feels so at ease, never worrying about if someone is looking at me, or I’m doing something wrong.

I work nearby, and it suits great as it takes no time out of my day.
A lot of lads where I work have came in for the exact same reason!

I have had escalating back pain for my entire adult life.

A combination of programming for a living and video games as a primary hobby resulted in a very sedentary lifestyle.
I went to various doctors, had scans and nothing was found to be very wrong with me, I just needed to get in shape to counteract my lifestyle. I tried various group classes in things like yoga, joined gyms but stopped going after not being pain-free within a month or two. I couldn’t stick with anything, I just didn’t have the willpower or faith in myself to recognise small improvements, as I was so used to the pain at this point. I turned to Foundation two years ago to “outsource” my willpower and progress tracking.

Having the trainers at Foundation set my programme and track my progress has been revolutionary for me.

I love the combination of the camaraderie of a class with the individual attention of a personal trainer. I’m not pain-free yet but I can now see progress, I can’t believe how far I’ve come. It will take another while to undo 15 years of self-mistreatment, and it’s still hard to get up in the morning, but even just the fact that I don’t have to think about what to do at the gym tips me over the edge, I never miss a class.

In the past I’ve only gotten empty promises, but here they took things personally.

I never had great experiences with gyms in the past, I’ve heard a lot of promises which were always undelivered.
The personal touch was never there.

When I used to go them, you’d get the big questionaire, you’d fill out the issues you had, and the next thing you were bundled in a big class with a load of people, and they weren’t monitoring any of the ailments that they made you put down, which always made me feel uncomfortable.

That was a huge thing I noticed here, they took any concern I had seriously, watched and monitored everything.
And it’s not the only reason I keep coming back, there’s also the craic and the camaraderie, even just the chatting about cars!
And I see the results too, a few little guys appearing in the tummy, I can see myself getting toned, the muscles in my legs.
My biggest issue coming in was being always out of breath even doing the smallest things, I used to get absolutely wrecked trying to wash the car.
Last week I washed by own car, and I had so much puff left in me, but I pulled the wife’s car around and did that after!

Even when the car was out of order, I was killing myself, as I didn’t want to break the habit!

I recommend the place to all my relatives, and they’re coming in, and loving it too!
